From Awareness to Action with Open Impact
The news we watch and the media we consume provide great awareness of the hard problems we face as people and planet. But too often, everyday citizens are deeply moved by stories of the world and movements around us, but are left without a clear answer to, “what can I do to help?”—leading to disempowerment, apathy, and despair.
We’re partnering with media and campaigns to pair awareness with clear and personalized calls to action: matching anyone, where they are, with what they have, with a clear path to support relevant efforts near them with their time, skills, and funds.
Meanwhile, by matching these on-the-ground efforts with tools and resources to document and share their stories, we can fuel future media and drive targeted campaigns paired with storytelling, distributed research, and citizen science: imagine the power of millions of seventh graders planting pollinator gardens or collecting soil samples in their backyards, populating a global map of citizen-sourced data, story, and impact.
Cultivating a thriving community
In November of 2021, we onboarded 30 impact organizations in 13 countries to the Open Impact platform. Today, we’re moving into our beta launch with 170 organizations in 16 countries, who are learning and testing with us as we incorporate feedback and expand our vision together. We recently harvested some of these learnings with Open Future Forum, where 300 of our partners and allies in 36 countries participated in 34 hours of programming.
We are honored to be growing alongside a rich impact ecosystem who are stewarding innovative and essential projects in areas like Regenerative Agriculture, Food Systems, Water, Community Wellness, Community Resilience, Climate Action, and Economic Equity. From community-led watershed remediation in Rajasthan to food systems collaboration and education in Hawai’i, healthy childcare in Chicago to food forests in Zimbabwe, we truly believe that this rich soil of collective learning will allow a vibrant and complex understory to take root.
